Senior Housing Assistance Group, (known throughout the northwest as SHAG) is Washington 's largest non-profit organization dedicated to providing affordable, age and income qualified rental apartment living communities for senior and disabled senior persons. With communities located from Bellingham in the north to Olympia in the south, SHAG properties are also located in Auburn, Federal Way, Kent, Kirkland, Lakewood, Lynnwood, Puyallup, Renton, Seattle and Tacoma.

While SHAG buildings offer a pleasant environment in which to live, its strength is its people. Professionally managed by Independent Living, Resident Managers live and work on site. They take pride in and are responsible for their community and as such bring an added dimension to the day to day lifestyle.

SHAG's philosophy is based on the premise of offering a rich lifestyle to its residents… one that fosters and encourages “community”. To this end, numerous resident-organized and staff-organized social activities are scheduled each month and include a variety of on and off site activities. The end result… a lifestyle that is as quiet or as busy as you like with an opportunity to make new friends in an enjoyable community environment and residents who are proud to call SHAG home.

SHAG communities are access-controlled and offer a choice of appointed 1 and 2 bedroom step-saver floor plans, central elevator(s) and modern common laundry facilities. Many of SHAG's communities have private exterior common areas, gardens and social activity/community rooms all designed with the resident in mind. As well most communities are located close to retail shopping, medical and wellness services, social services and transit systems.
