Special Features and Amenities for Seniors

SHAG communities are designed for independent and active lifestyles; however, we have added special features and amenities for convenience, especially for seniors with limited mobility.

Our senior living communities are access controlled. Residents use an electronic key pad to enter the building or an intercom system connected to their telephone to allow guests to enter. Each of our buildings has full fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems.

Every floor has elevator access, and all doorways meet standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Our buildings and apartments are wheelchair accessible, and many barrier-free apartments are available.

Most communities are located near shopping and public transit. Select communities have their own dedicated community transit vans for local transportation. Accessible parking is also available.

Some communities, like Arrowhead Gardens, The Terrace and Victoria Park (among others), have washer/dryer hook ups in select units. In addition, for the convenience of our residents, common laundry facilities are provided on almost every floor.

Our community managers maintain a list of agencies that are available to assist residents with in-home care needs, household tasks and transportation. Some agencies charge a fee for services. For more information, please contact the community manager.

Each month, social functions and planned activities are offered. These aim to promote camaraderie and a sense of community among residents.

Each community has onsite live-in managers who can respond to resident questions and concerns.
